Black Moonstone & Blue Topaz Earrings

Discreet Asymmetry & Sparkling Contrast

These statement earrings were created after my client saw the black moonstones in my studio.

The muted shimmering tones of the black moonstones called for a little sparkling contrast: my client selected these faceted round blue topaz stones to complement them. They are cut in the back one with a beautiful spiral cut the other with a stepped cut. In this way the earrings are the same but subtly asymmetric.

Subtle Colour Contrast

When it came to precious metal choice, my client was after a subtle contrast of colour – I often work in silver with a 18ct yellow gold bezel around the stones. This time I used 18ct white gold , which provided a lovely tonal contrast with the silver.
