For this project my client wanted an oval variation of my Floating Ring design using her favourite Autumn colours. The ring would complement a pendant that I had previously made for her.

Starting Point:

Combining elements of the Floating Ring and a previous commission.

I gathered together a selection of gems for my client to consider. Autumnal shades of orange and yellow sapphire, her favourite fire opals as well as golden citrine and rich dark madeira citrine.

Eventually these were edited down to the selection on the right; two shades (and cuts) of yellow sapphire, a luscious orange sapphire and an incredibly vibrant fire opal.

Working in 18ct yellow gold, I began by creating the outer frame and settings so that I could consider different arrangements of the stones.

I worked closely from the ring that inspired the commission and tried to keep a similar sense of balance in proportion.

Below is the finished piece. I’m so pleased with how this commission came together, the final addition of white diamonds really brings out the colours and somehow draws the palette together.

The other element I love is the double frame edge which adds substance to this light and airy design.

“Lucy, I am thrilled with the ring thank you so much.”
